The majority of Toronto Maple Leafs' fans want to see general manager Kyle Dubas do something this summer to strengthen up the blueline. As of now the Leafs have Morgan Rielly, Nikita Zaitsev, Jake Gardiner and Ron Hainsey signed for next year, a core that likely will bring the same results as this past season. The big dream scenario would be to land John Carlson in free agency, however like John Tavares, there's no guarantee he even hits the open market. Plan B for many is to get on the phone with the Carolina Hurricanes who will likely dump the majority of their roster this summer, which possibly includes defenseman Justin Faulk and Noah Hanifin. Well, we can probably forget that now as Eklund of Hockeybuzz mentioned on Thursday that the Leafs are in on Hanifin in a possible swap for Kasperi Kapanen. The blogger goes on to say that the Hurricanes would rather deal Faulk to Toronto. It's rare that anything Eklund says comes true, so unfortunately for now it looks like we can forget about adding Hanifin or Faulk. Time will tell, hopefully the blueline is one of Dubas' priorities.
