"The Toronto Maple Leafs stayed pretty quiet on deadline day having chosen to make a move on Sunday instead. With lots of rumours surrounding the Leafs and what they might do, general manager Lou Lamoriello decided to make more of a depth move by acquiring veteran center Tomas Plekanec from the Montreal Canadiens. The Leafs were linked to Rick Nash, Ryan McDonagh and Mike Green, however didn't end up landing any of them. Lots of focus was also fixed on upcoming UFA's like James van Riemdsyk, Tyler Bozak and Leo Komarov, all remained a Leaf after the deadline. Lamoriello explained his strategy following the deadline:«You look at where your team is. If you had the reverse (situation), you'd go out and get players like that and pay a price. You already have them.»
So as the Leafs implied they would do the whole time, the Leafs used their upcoming UFA's as their own rentals with an added bonus of already developed chemistry. Overall are you happy with the team's strategy and actions during the deadline?
