"One of the Toronto Maple Leafs reported traded targets never came close to Toronto.Detroit Red Wings defenseman Mike Green had refused to add the Toronto Maple Leafs to his trade list despite the Leafs rumoured to have strong interest. Greg Brady from the Fan 590 reported that Green would not welcome a trade to the Leafs, all because he felt Leafs head coach Mike Babcock pushed for Green to be cut from the 2010 Vancouver Olympic roster despite upper management having him penciled in. Leafs general manager Lou Lamoriello was asked about the Leafs reported interest in Green and the defenseman's use of his no trade clause to block a move to Toronto. The Leafs GM didn't hold back or talk very long about it, Lou simply stated "that's an unfair question for Mike Green, but we were not interested". Ouch! While Lou would probably never admit to having interest in Green, it definitely sounds like they'll be no interest between the two parties moving forward.
Asked Lamoriello about a report Mike Green invoked a no-trade clause to block a move to Leafs. The GM replied "that's an unfair question for Mike Green, but we were not interested". — Lance Hornby (@sunhornby) February 26, 2018
