Drafted in the seventh round of the 2022 entry draft, Lisowsky was considered a long-shot to make the NHL from the beginning. At the end of the season, the Leafs had to make the difficult decision to let his rights expire and not sign him to an entry-level contract. That, however, has not deterred Lisowsky or the Leafs from continuing to show mutual interest as he revealed at Saskatoon Blades training camp today that the two sides continue to work together.
The Leafs drafted Lisowsky after a 33-goal, 58-point 2021-2022 campaign, but chose to keep a contract slot open this summer instead of signing him. The 5'9, 180-pound left winger doesn't exactly fit the mold of Brad Treliving, but his production certainly does.
Lisowsky followed up his 21-22 campaign with a 38-goal, 71-point season in 22-23 and last season set career-highs again with 42 goals and 80 points. With Lisowsky and the Leafs still showing mutual interest in each other, it would be more of a surprise to see him not sign with the Leafs at the end of his WHL season than if he did.
