"Kasperi Kapanen played in each of the last two games at the Chicago Blackhawks and Dallas Stars. Although he didn't register a shot or a point in nearly 21 combined minutes, Mike Babcock went out of his to mentioned that he liked what he saw out of Kapanen following the win in Dallas.
After sending Rinat Valiev back down the Toronto Marlies on Friday, they returned Kapanen back to the American Hockey League on Saturday. He will be available to play for the Marlies tonight at the Syracuse Crunch.
The timing of the move is a bit strange as it was made shortly after it was announced that Andreas Johnsson will be taking Kapanen's spot at the AHL All-Star Classic.
Kapanen has two goals in his eight games with the Maple Leafs this season. It will be interesting to see if he is recalled following the NHL All-Star Weekend.
