The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that they have re-signed Logan Shaw, the captain of their AHL affiliate, the Toronto Marlies, to a multi-year contract extension. The extension is for two years.
According to the Toronto Marlies on X:
The 32-year-old Shaw is entering his third season with the Marlies and is currently third on the team in points, with 17 in 23 games played.
With 232 NHL games under his belt, Shaw has been an important contributor both on the ice and in the locker room since joining the Marlies.
In addition to his contract extension, Shaw received another honor today: he was named to Team Canada's roster for the Spengler Cup..
As per the Toronto Marlies on X:
While Shaw is currently further down the Maple Leafs' depth chart-behind AHL players like Alex Steeves and Alexander Nylander, who have already played for the big club this season-his NHL experience and all-around game would make him a valuable call-up option if needed.
Speaking of call-ups, goaltender Matt Murray made his first start for the Maple Leafs this season after being called up from the Marlies.
Despite battling injuries since joining Toronto, this could be the fresh start Murray needs to revitalize his career.
