As we approach the start of NHL training camps, there are plenty of questions on everyone's minds when it comes to their favourite teams. For Leafs Nation, one of those questions surrounds the status of Alex Nylander and when we may get our first look at the Nylander brothers together at the NHL level.
Sportsnet's Luke Fox fielded such a question during his end of summer Maple Leafs Mailbag, stating that he expects both Nylander brothers to be on the main roster by Christmas.
Every year there are plenty of injuries and a player with the experience Alex Nylander has will certainly make him an enticing option for the big club when they're first in need of a call-up, as Fox pointed out. But as we heard from Alex himself back in August, he knows that he will have to prove himself before earning a recall.
It's a long season and it's almost a given that at some point, barring injury, Alex and William Nylander will play together in the NHL for the Leafs, even if only for a little while. The Leafs have really struggled to score in the postseason for the past several years and haven't had much depth scoring in some time. His latest experience in Columbus suggests that Alex can do just that. The only question remaining is, before or after Christmas?
