With Auston Matthews now signed to an extension, the Toronto media is focused on forward Mitch Marner and his expiring contract. Recently some comments surfaced by Marner's agent that the Leafs were lowballing Marner and it wasn't accepted. His agent Darren Ferris addressed the statement saying they were old comments from the summer when all three of Marner, Matthews and the William Nylander camp were being low balled by Dubas. After practice on Thursday Marner was asked about everything going on and if he felt disrespected by Toronto. «Things get said, words get spun … I love it here, I grew up here, I want to be a Leaf for a long time … As long as I'm here for the next training camp, that's all that matters.» He added he wants nothing to do with the negotiations until the season is finished. «I've told both parties (GM Kyle Dubas and his agent) I don't want to be informed until something's about to happen. Until then, I'm just trying to focus on the season.»
