The infamous Matthew Tkachuk mouthguard toss from Chris Kreider has made headlines around the NHL, but Tkachuk's latest chirp might actually be even better.
At the start of the 3rd period of Game 4 between the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers, Tkachuk and Kreider got into it after the whistle, and while Tkachuk was chewing on his mouthguard, a bit of a trademark for him, Kreider reached out and snatched it right out of his mouth and attempted to throw it over the glass.
Tkachuk confirmed that the mouthguard didn't actually clear the glass, instead hitting the top and bouncing back down onto the ice. A quick wash and he popped it right back into his mouth.
On Wednesday after practice, Tkachuk shared with the media the chirp that he delivered to Kreider afterwards. It was a doozie.
"I told him that was the best play he made all game."
Tonight's Game 5 is a crucial one for both teams, as the series is currently knotted up at 2-2. Whoever takes tonight's game will have a huge leg-up in the series. As of right now, it looks like Florida may have the mental edge.
