Domi, the fan favourite, has wasted no time in making the most of his summer vacation, touring Rome and chilling out at the Colosseum, as The Hockey News' Evan Doerfler revealed on Friday.
A multi-year deal has been a long time coming for the playmaking forward, having bounced around the league on short, 1-year or 2-year deals for the past several years. After the end of his first season in Toronto, Domi expressed a strong desire to stay.
Domi has been a solid addition to the Maple Leafs, and it's not just because his dad pummeled other players for years as a member of the blue and white. He's not mean like his dad, but he is a pest and has far more skill. He can play center or wing and was a vital piece in the playoffs when Matthews and Nylander struggled with injury, producing 4 points in their absence.
Something else Max Domi has that I would argue much of this team lacks is swagger. He loves being a Leaf. His confidence borders on delusion and his positivity is infectious to not just the fans, but the other guys in the room.
Hopefully he comes back from Italy hungrier to win than ever.
