The Maple Leafs announced their first round of cuts at training camp, sending Miroslav Holinka and four others back to their junior clubs.

After just two and a half days of on-ice sessions at camp, the Leafs have officially announced that they are retuning the five players below back to their junior teams.

F Sam McCue (Owen Sound)
F Maxim Muranov (Calgary)
F Miroslav Holinka (Edmonton)
F Marshall Finnie (Edmonton)
D Nathan Mayes (Spokane)

All five invitees had been skating in the developmental "Group C" through the first two days of camp.

Holinka was selected by the Leafs in the 2024 draft and had recently decided to continue his development in North America, passing on the chance to play against men in Czechia.

Finnie quickly made his presence known during the Leafs' rookie camp and tournament when he landed a heavy hit during practice that had unfortunately injured 2024 first-round pick Ben Danford.

It was a short stint for these five prospects, but with the CHL season beginning this weekend and knowing they would not see pre-season action for the Leafs, returning them to their junior clubs will be far better for their development in the long run.
