Liljegren is joined by the likes of, Nick Robertson, Noah Gregor and Connor Dewar on the list of Maple Leafs who are susceptible to an offer sheet.
Liljegren is a defenseman who has run into some injury trouble in his young career, and his play can be hit-or-miss. He is still rather unproven, and may not be locked up long-term. His previous cap-hit was $1.4 million.
Nick Robertson is an interesting offer sheet candidate due to his usage in Toronto this past season. He never could find a way into Toronto's top six, where his skillset suggests he belongs. He could be an intriguing bet for a team looking for a young winger who can drive play and shoot the puck. His qualifying offer is set at $813,750, but if a team wants to offer him a larger contract to bet on his potential, there are some circles who believe he may be interested in a fresh start outside of Toronto.
Connor Dewar and Noah Gregor are bottom-six energy forwards, and while they're eligible to sign an offer sheet if they so choose, it's not likely that they'll break the bank, even on the open market via an offer sheet.
On Monday, CapFriendly revealed the updated list of offer sheet compensation draft picks based on salary. Here's the official breakdown:
The Maple Leafs were involved in the first-ever NHL offer sheet in 1986, as the Blackhawks stole Gary Nylund for three years and $620k.
There have been 10 offer sheets in the 21st century. Dustin Penner going to Edmonton in 2007, and Jesperi Kotkaniemi being claimed by Carolina in 2021 are the only two that were not matched.
