The NHL Alumni Association has released an unfortunate update regarding 52-year-old former Maple Leaf Sergei Berezin, who has tragically passed away.

Berezin played with the Leafs from 1996 through 2001, scoring at least 22 goals in 4 of his 5 seasons in Toronto. The Voskresensk, Russia native had also spent time with the Montreal Canadiens, Arizona Coyotes, Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals.

Following his playing career, Berezin remained involved in hockey, coaching minor players and teaching them everything he could about the sport through his own learned experience.

In 502 career NHL games, Berezin produced 160 goals and 286 points, adding 13 goals and 30 points across 52 career playoff games.

Our deepest condolences go out to Berezin's family, friends, former teammates and the Maple Leafs organization.
