"The Toronto Maple Leafs have their 2018-19 roster mostly intact and ready to go for the season. However the William Nylander contract situation still looms and the restricted free agent is still without a new deal. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the two sides are still far apart and expects the standoff/negotiations to go into September. «To me the biggest question is are we talking a bridge or are we talking term. If I was Nylander, I might be the kind of guy who would bet on a bridge deal. But I think Toronto has kind of tried to negotiate the waters with three guys at once, and it's not easy. There are four guys with Tavares they'd all like to keep, but I don't think it's always the easiest thing in the world to do it. «But the last I'd heard, it wasn't that close.»Friedman went on to say that he believes Leafs GM Kyle Dubas will pitch to Nylander, Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner that John Tavares took a pay cut to come to Toronto, and he expects everybody else to.What do you think of Friedman's comments?
