For Nylander, his game was very skill-based and the talent was undeniable. For Hyman, his work ethic was second to none and he had enough skill to be able to hang with the big boys in the top six. Their paths to the NHL were very different, but there was no denying the impact that both players had on the organization right from the start.
Tonight, with the Oilers traveling to Toronto to take on the Leafs at Scotiabank Arena, Hyman is on the cusp of doing something truly special. He is 2 goals shy of a 50-goal season, the first of his NHL career. It would certainly be fitting for him to accomplish the special milestone in Toronto, but unfortunately for Hyman, his friend and former teammate had a message for him follow the morning skate on Saturday. Nylander told the media with a smirk this morning that the Leafs do not intend to let Hyman hit the milestone tonight in his hometown.
The Oilers are coming into Toronto on a red-hot 10-game run, in which they have collected points in 9 games, going 7-1-2. The Leafs are no slouches in their own right, compiling a 6-3-1 record over their last 10 as well, so tonight should be a good one.
