Referee Steve Kozari tells Bruins' McAvoy and Pastrnak to "F*** off!"
The Boston Bruins were getting under the skin of the referees all evening during their Game 5 loss, until Steve Kozari put David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy in their place.
Marchand is always among the leaders in penalties drawn every season, with his antagonist style and ability to get under the opponents' skin, causing them to take a penalty.
During the game, there were eight penalties called last night, with five going against the Bruins and three against Toronto. Neither team was able to cash in on the power play.
Boston's main point of contention with referee Steve Kozari occurred during the closing minutes of the second period. Kozari called two Bruins penalties for roughing, which prompted Charlie McAvoy and David Pastrnak were quick to come over for a chat. Kozari was not having any of it, directing both players to leave the ice, which set Bruins long-time announcer Jack Edwards off.
Kozari was attempting to set the tone of the evening during a stop in play. When speaking with Pastrnak and McAvoy, Kozari can be seen getting animated when McAvoy tries to interrupt him. Kozari wasn't interested in McAvoy's defense, instead giving the two Bruins a crude suggestion, telling them to "f*** off".
Bruins fans can be angry at the referees for the result in the game if they like, when really their frustration should be aimed at the players on the ice who failed to deliver in front of the hometown crowd.
Things now move to Toronto, for Game 6 on Thursday night - and I really hope Steve Kozari gets the call in that game as well.
