The Toronto Maple Leafs continue to look for forward depth and they might have gotten close to landing some. While the need might be more apparent than ever with the Wayne Simmonds injury, there's some hope on the horizon with Joe Thornton nearing a comeback in maybe a week or so. What we've heard mostly is that the Leafs want to move a defenseman for some forward help and that's why trade talk between the Calgary Flames and Leafs recently fell apart. According to the Toronto Sun's Steve Simmons, the Leafs and Flames discussed a possible Sam Bennett trade but the return was too pricey for general manager Kyle Dubas and the Leafs. Simmons reports that the Flames wanted Alexander Kerfoot plus a little something added in. It's an ask that Dubas wasn't willing to swallow and he'd still prefer a deal likely revolving around Travis Dermott and Pierre Engvall. There's a connection between the Leafs and Bennett and it seems like a deal in the coming weeks might be inevitable. "Bennett, by the way, played on a Marlies super team in the GTHL that had Connor McDavid, Josh Ho-Sang and Roland McKeown on it."Would you move Kerfoot and something else for Bennett?
