The Toronto Maple Leafs and William Nylander standoff continues as the forward remains unsigned. As a restricted free agent, Nylander is allowed to talk to other teams about possible contracts and he's reportedly been in constant contact with the Carolina Hurricanes. Of course, Nylander can't just sign with the Hurricanes straight up, it would have to either be an offer sheet or a sign and trade deal, which is the most likely scenario. Dave Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports that the Hurricanes and Leafs have been in contact regarding a possible trade with Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas attending last night's San Jose Sharks and Carolina Hurricanes game. Pagnotta speculates any trade with the two parties would involve Hurricanes right handed defenseman Brett Pesce. The 23 year old stands 6'3 and just signed an extension that takes him through the 2023-24 season at a reasonable $4.025million cap hit. Would you be willing to make this type of deal?
