Report: Leafs Have Mutual Interest In Wayne Simmonds.

"The Toronto Maple Leafs and general manager Kyle Dubas have made it clear they'd like to be a tougher team to play against next year. They need some grit and sandpaper in the playoffs, something they clearly don't have right now. The good thing is, they have one player that can bring that type of play along with some goal scoring ready to sign with them. Soon to be free agent forward Wayne Simmonds has been open about his desire to play for the Leafs if possible and now it seems the feelings are mutual. NHL insider Pierre LeBrun reports on Tuesday that the Leafs have interest regarding Simmonds and will make him an offer when free agency opens this week. Of course with the Leafs up against the cap, it'll have to be a very cap friendly deal.

Montreal showed interest in Simmonds last July but wasn't ready to pay what NJ did ($5M aav). It wouldn't surprise me if Habs circled back on Simmonds again at least to see. (bottom six role?). Simmonds told me last month it's the best he's felt physically in 2 yrs
