"There's no doubt about it, the Toronto Maple Leafs need to strengthen up their blue line heading into the 2018-19 season. Morgan Rielly continues to be the pillar of the Leafs defense but he needs some help. After that the Leafs need some help, Ron Hainsey can't keep up the big minutes and will need some relief, Nikita Zaitsev didn't always look at the top of his game last year and Jake Gardiner is, well Jake Gardiner. Multiple reporters across the league are expecting a flurry of moves around the draft now that the 2018-19 salary cap has been figured out, and the Leafs might be landing a defenseman during that flurry. Rick Dhaliwal of Sportsnet reports that Vancouver Cancuks defenseman Chris Tanev is back in play once again and the Leafs are at the top of the list of teams interested. Tanev had some tough luck injuries last year and only played in 42 games putting up 11 points, however it's par for the course as the Toronto native has never played a full 82 game season maxing out at 70 games in 2014-15. The 28 year old carries a $4.45million cap hit for the next two seasons before becoming UFA in the summer of 2020. Would you like to see the Leafs take a run at Tanev?
