"It's no secret right now that the Toronto Maple Leafs and general manager Kyle Dubas are trying to acquire some depth at forward. While some people believe that the Leafs' focus should be on defense, Dubas is hunting for a forward. It seems like there might be a match that won't require any special quarantining because of a cross border trade. Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet revealed that Sam Bennett has requested a trade out of Calgary and one NHL executive believes the match is coming between the Flames and Leafs. "Bennett has been linked to Toronto and a lot of that has to do with Doug Gilmour. The deal could work here because of the Canada/Canada aspect and no quarantine would be needed. Perhaps Calgary would be interested in Travis Dermott and Pierre Engvall who are all the same age. Something to monitor for sure. Like usual, will come down to dollars and cents." The Ontario native has been getting a raw deal in Calgary barely averaging 13 minutes a game.
The reason he's mentioned as a good fit for the Leafs is because he brings some offensive upside and brings some grit on the ice as well willing to stick up for his teammates and drop the gloves if necessary. Would you make this type of trade? Do you think he would be a good fit for the Leafs?
