The Toronto Maple Leafs have received some criticism for how they've handled the salary cap over the last couple of years but it's not always on management. The Leafs' young star players wanted to get paid and they pretty much all did. One former NHLer called out two of those star players saying that's not how you win in the NHL.Ryan Kesler appeared on Vancouver based podcast Sekeres & Price and was asked about the situation in Toronto. Taking a bigger piece of the pie hurts the team in the long run. "If you want to win, leave some money on the table. You wonder why Toronto struggles. TOR struggles because they have 2 young players that make too much money... what ever happened to the bridge deal that you set yourself up for a championship team."Matthews is signed at $11.64million per year through the 2023-24 season while Marner is signed at $10.903million per season through the 2024-25 season. What do you think of Kesler's comments?
