Simon Benoit had missed the first day of training camp due to the birth of his daughter, who remains unnamed, however Ryan Reaves had an interesting suggestion.

When training camp opened up for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Benoit was a key absentee, however it was revealed that he was missing due to the birth of his new daughter. Interestingly enough, she remains name-less and Benoit's teammates have been trying to help him find a name.

Enforcer and jokester, Ryan Reaves, voted that he name his daughter "Cashew". When asked why he chose such a unique name, Reaves' explanation oddly had some validity:

"He calls his girlfriend Peanut, so Peanut, Cashew. Nut family."

Benoit had a solid season last year for the Maple Leafs, averaging 17:14 TOI, accruing 56 PIMs, delivering 246 hits and blocking 102 shots in 64 contests. He added 37 hits and 11 blocks in 17 minutes of ice-time in 7 post-season contests.

His camp has gotten off to an interesting start after getting into an altercation with Max Domi during one of the practice sessions and then standing up for Alex Nylander in a game against the Ottawa Senators after Brady Tkachuk delivered a cheap shot after the whistle.

The new father will look to make an imprint in the remaining portion of training camp as he tries to solidify his spot in the top-6 for opening night.
