Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe praised Auston Matthews for leading by example in last night's 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins to even the series at one.

With the game tied just past the midway point of the third period, Max Domi turned into a quarterback and Auston Matthews turned into a receiver when Domi lobbed an aerial pass to Matthews at the Bruin's blueline that saw the Rocket Richard winner use his excellent hand-eye coordination to catch the puck before going in all alone on Linus Ulmark and scoring the game-winning goal.

It was Matthews' third point of the game as he assisted on the Leafs first two goals as well. As Keefe said following the game, he was all over the stat sheet last night with 3 points, 8 shots, 6 hits, a block and was 70 percent on faceoffs.

»How they competed and worked. Auston has a goal and two assists. He was all over the stat sheet tonight. In so many regards, he is affecting the game positively for us. To me, with the way he worked and the way he competed, he was hard and physical. He was winning puck battles all over the ice.

I would say the same thing about Bert and Domi. Huge goal by Max. Great pass to find Auston in the manner that he did. The way those guys connected there is big-time stuff, and the finish was really great. I loved that line. I loved a lot about our game tonight all the way through the lineup.»

Sheldon Keefe seems to be a huge fan of the work his top line put in last night in Boston. Now, with the series tied 1-1, the Leafs will travel back to Toronto in hopes of taking a 2-1 series lead on Wednesday.
