Sheldon Keefe strongly hints at the Leafs' starting goalie for Game 6
After a thrilling win in Game 5 in Boston, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe appears to be have a frontrunner for his starting goalie in Game 6.
Joseph Woll gave the Maple Leafs everything they needed to fend off elimination at the hands of the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night. He was steady, solid and, when needed, spectacular. His calmer, more efficient game is much less stressful to watch than Samsonov's often scrambling style. It's obvious when watching the team play that they feel more comfortable when "The Brick Woll" is there behind them.
Although it was already fairly obvious who the Game 6 starter would be, Sheldon Keefe all but confirmed that Woll would indeed start again when the series heads back to Toronto on Thursday night.
"We're going to need him to continue with that. Our team is going to have to continue to do a job in front of him. Those things have gotta be connected." - Sheldon Keefe on Joseph Woll
For the Bruins, failing to close out the series in Game 5 has to be concerning. This is, after all, the same team that blew a 3-1 series lead to the Florida Panthers last season. It's way too early to believe the Leafs can pull it off, but another strong performance from Joseph Woll is absolutely necessary if the Leafs expect to have any hope of pushing this series to a 7th and deciding game.
