captain Auston Matthews not putting the cart before the horse after win over Canada, understands that there's still work to do at 4 Nations Face-Off.

After pulling off a thrilling 3-1 win over Team Canada in enemy territory, and punching their ticket to the championship game on Thursday, Team USA captain Auston Matthews was not ready to do much celebrating just yet.
Following the big win, Matthews spoke with the media in Montreal and address not only the win over Canada, but also the incredible atmosphere at the Bell Centre and the trio of first period scraps that helped set the scene for a thrilling game.
"It means a lot, but, I mean, we haven't done anything yet. Two games in, obviously two big wins, but, you know, we've got a lot of work to do. We've got another big game here coming Monday against Sweden, and, you know, we've got to regroup."

"It was pretty electric. I mean, it was probably one of the best atmospheres I've been a part of. So, you know, a lot of fun. It feels a lot better when you come out with the win, but, just from the start, the drop of the puck, I mean, it was electric in here."

"Kudos to both sides, squaring off like that, but just the atmosphere and everything tonight was pretty incredible. Big win for us."

Matthews sent a very clear message to the rest of the field on Saturday night after advancing to the finals: the United States didn't come to the tournament to place second to anyone.
"I mean, I think that, you know, we're here. We're here to compete. We're here to win. You know, we want to win this thing. That's about it. That's the bottom line is we're here to win."

If Matthews can lead Team USA to victory, it could be a potential catalyst in leading the Leafs on a lengthy playoff run and potentially even a Stanely Cup this Spring/Summer. Of course, there probably aren't too many people in Canada, including in Toronto, who are rooting for Matthews and Team USA heading into the final week of the tournament.
