As the NHL transitions from Adidas to Fanatics to kick off the league's 10-year supply deal with their new supplier, some of the changes are very noticeable. For the Maple Leafs, for example, the new practice jerseys are not as bland as they previously were.
Prior to this fall, the Maple Leafs' practice jerseys were solid blue with a white logo, solid white with a blue logo and solid black with a while logo, depending on the position or the spot within the lineup that the player played. Now, however, Fanatics has made some adjustments, and while the overall design features similar colour schemes, there are some very clean-looking additions.
The key change were noticed during practice for the upcoming Prospect Showcase in Montreal this weekend. These new practice tarps feature a black shoulder patch, creating a clean two-tone look. The white jerseys also feature a two-tone look, but with a blue shoulder patch in place of the black.
Yes, okay, these are merely practice jerseys and some may not be as excited about the design changes as others. But, it's a sign that hockey is inching closer and I think that's a fun fact that we can all embrace and become excited about.
