Toronto Maple Leafs' forward Zach Hyman made a pretty big statement this past week. Hyman said that he hopes to be with the Maple Leafs' for a very long time. The 27 year old is signed through the 2020-21 season before he'll become UFA. He's very popular among teammates on the ice for his style of play and off the ice for the positive energy he brings to the locker room. The Leafs' will try and keep him around but it might be hard because of their salary cap restrictions over the next couple of years. What exactly would a Hyman contract look like?James Mirtle of The Athletic breaks it down.Mirtle believes the best comparable is Joonas Donskoi of the Colorado Avalanche who signed a four year deal with an $3.9million AAV last year. The problem of course is while their styles of play are similar, Hyman is more productive with a couple of 20 goal seasons under his belt so a $4.5million AAV is likely more probable. The Leafs' insider wonders if maybe they can get it closer to $3.9million AAV if they offered 6 years instead of 3 or 4. Would you sign Hyman to a six year deal with an $3.9million AAV?
