During the second game of their doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox this week, Toronto Blue Jays' slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. swapped an autographed baseball with a Blue Jays fan in exchange for his Toronto Maple Leafs hat.
When asked about the exchange, Guerrero Jr. chimed in that he now wants his "own hockey jersey, like my friend George Springer". A few weeks ago the Blue Jays held a giveaway night offering a Springer replica hockey jersey to the first 15,000 fans at the Rogers Center due to Springer's immense love for hockey.
It didn't take the Maple Leafs too long to respond as they posted a customized Guerrero Jr. jersey with his number 27 on their official Twitter page on Tuesday with the caption, "we got you".
Guerrero Jr. is enjoying a bounce-back-type season with a blistering second half that has him ranked at or near the top of all major statistical categories within that span. Perhaps with his new jersey, we might see his partake in a couple Maple Leafs games with the NHL's regular season fast approaching.
