Brace yourselves, Leafs Nation, as training camp is finally upon us, signaling the end of a very long summer for the Maple Leafs and their loyal fan base. The players are all officially back in Toronto and ready to go through medicals and media today before taking to the ice on Thursday morning for the first on-ice sessions of the 2024-25 campaign.
Among the most interesting storylines to follow throughout camp will be the performances of Maple Leafs hopefuls like Easton Cowan and Fraser Minten, a first look at new Leafs Christopher Tanev, Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Anthony Stolarz, as well as the inagural camp with Auston Matthews as captain.
The Maple Leafs have unveiled the full training camp roster, which includes 42 forwards, 26 defensemen and 7 goalies.
Perhaps one of the biggest surprises to see on this list is that Auston Matthews is arriving at training camp at 217 lbs. Earlier this offseason, it had appeared as though Matthews had shed some weight. That appears to be inaccurate, given the official weigh-ins for Leafs training camp.
As mentioned previously, on-ice sessions begin on Thursday, with the Maple Leafs' pre-season schedule officially opening on Sunday, September 22nd against the Ottawa Senators.
Get excited, folks. Hockey is back!
