Joshua and the Canucks took to Twitter earlier today to release a statement that the forward had undergone surgery to remove a cancerous tumour after he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.
Joshua goes into detail about how he found a lump on one of his testicles this summer and due to the severity of the issue, he underwent surgery, fortunately of the successful variety.
He later disclosed that it's been an extremely challenging experience and as he continues to heal up, he will be unable to attend the start of training camp. What that means for his status to begin the regular season remains to be seen but the good news is he is feeling better and is raring to get back on the ice.
He is requesting privacy for the time being and that the team will pass along any pertinent information in the foreseeable future.
Joshua broke out this season with 18 goals and 32 points in 63 contests before adding 4 goals and 4 assists in 13 games during the playoffs. he was a 5th round draft pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs back in 2014 but never made his NHL debut until 2020-21 with the St. Louis Blues.
He signed a 4-year contract extension earlier this summer with Vancouver, worth 13 million dollars.
