The Toronto Maple Leafs are rolling along through training camp and the group looks pretty good so far. We've enjoyed seeing new faces like Joe Thornton and Wayne Simmonds fit into the team as well as TJ Brodie and even Jimmy Vesey. However there hasn't been much chatter regarding a familiar face around the rink. Leafs' starting goalie Frederik Andersen. After the Leafs' left the bubble, there was plenty of chatter that Andersen wouldn't be around when the new season started as many claimed he would be traded. But here we are at camp with the 31 year old playing out the final year of his contract. Are the Leafs considering extending him?NHL insider Pierre LeBrun gave an update regarding the contract situation in his latest article for The Athletic. LeBrun reports that the two sides haven't had any discussions since July and with training camp underway, there likely won't be any during the season either. "Claude Lemieux's track record as a player agent is generally not to negotiate contracts for his pending UFAs once the season has begun. He finds that distracting for his clients. There are exceptions, of course, and if the Leafs came during the season with the kind of offer that made too much sense not to look at, who knows. But for now, I think both Lemieux and Dubas are comfortable letting things play out and see what happens."Do you think Andersen has any chance of being in a Leafs' uniform next season?
