Leafs appear to be down to 5 defensemen against Dallas as veteran defender leaves game early
The Leafs are in Dallas tonight to take on the red hot Stars, who have put together a stellar 4-0-1 record to begin the season. The Leafs, 4-2-0, are a formidable opponent in their own right, but if they want to beat Dallas in their own barn, they may have to do it with 5 defensemen.
In the early going against Dallas, Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe ended up only playing 10 seconds in the first period and left after his first shift. It did not appear as though he took any contact, but he did appear to drop into a bit of a lunge stance on an icing race, which may have caused a groin pull or some other form of lower body injury.
The veteran defenseman, who was acquired ahead of last year's trade deadline from the Chicago Blackhawks, left the bench and headed towards the locker room at the first TV timeout.
We will update when we receive more information regarding the 30-year-old defenseman.
***Update @ 9:09pm - McCabe questionable to return with a lower-body injury***
