Bruce Garrioch, The Ottawa Sun's local Sens reporter, noted that the Sens have rescinded all previous contract offers to Pinto. The Sens did issue Pinto a qualifying offer at the beginning of the off-season and Pinto may have to sign it in order to begin serving his suspension.
The former second-round pick in the 2019 draft was coming off of a 20-goal, 35-point rookie season with the Sens and was hoping to sign a long-term deal. Pinto will now have to hope that he is able to perform well enough when he is eligible to return to the lineup in order to garner a new extension next off-season.
