In March of last year, the NHL announced a 10-year agreement with Fanatics to be the official supplier of league jerseys. The moment it was announced, it was met with criticism from fans, and lots of it.
With NHL training camps set to begin in a couple of weeks, players have returned to their teams and have begun holding informal 'Captain skates'. Yesterday, the Seattle Kraken held one and star forward Matty Beniers was on the ice for 10 minutes before his jersey ripped across one of the seams.
Fanatics has been criticized for the low-quality materials they use when creating their jerseys and even ahead of the current MLB season, came under fire for the the quality of their MLB uniforms from players who didn't appreciate the quality.
The questions surrounding the materials Fanatics use will continue to be questioned given they use the same facility in Quebec that Addias was using to produce their NHL jerseys. Not exactly putting their best foot forward.
