Perry has made a career out of getting under the skin of the opposition in the hockey world, but never did I expect to see "The Worm" get involved during a pro wrestling match. However, this week, that's exactly what happened.
During this week's edition of Friday Night Smack Down in Edmonton, Perry was in attendance, sitting ringside to take in the action. During a match between hockey fanatic Kevin Owens and Austin Theory, Perry actually tied up the arms of Theory while Owens delivered a hard chop, which sent Theory crashing down to the mat outside of the ring. He followed that up with a high five for Perry.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman also revealed that Austin Theory had walked down to the ring wearing a Florida Panthers sweater in front of the Oilers' faithful. So perhaps we should have seen Perry's involvement coming.
The hockey world and the pro wrestling world don't exactly cross very often, but when they do, it makes for good television.
Earlier this year, during a WWE event in Toronto, the pro wrestling company actually collaborated with the Maple Leafs on a special edition t-shirt that said "Auston 3:16", playing on the iconic Stone Cold Steve Austin "Austin 3:16" shirts that were so prevalent during the late 1990's.
