The Toronto Marlies have had a very busy weekend that began with a loss Friday night, followed by a win yesterday. The Marlies are also taking on the Laval Rocket today to wrap up the weekend and their three game set in three nights.

Today's game is a very important divisional game as the Marlies currently sit 1 point ahead of the Laval Rocket for fifth in the North Division. A win would give them some breathing room and tie them with Belleville for fourth, while a loss would bump them back in the standings with a playoff berth on the line.

Late last night, a fire alarm went off and the Laval Rocket's hotel. One radio personality who covers the Rocket, Anthony Marcotte, believes foul play is involved. Marcotte finds it suspicious that the fire alarm went off at midnight, the night before a very important divisional game.

Given the number of events that have been taking place in downtown Toronto this weekend and the fact it is St. Patrick's Day weekend, it's hard to imagine that the Marlies were attempting to sabotage the Rocket's preparation for today's game by disrupting their sleep routines. You can be sure, though, that if the Marlies dominate the game, Marcotte and others may have plenty to say about the very convenient fire alarm that forced an evacuation of the hotel.
