Insider drops some juicy news regarding Nazem Kadri potentially wanting out in Calgary
The season is barely 15 games deep and we are already beginning to hear of some potential buyers and sellers this season. Obviously, we know that the Leafs are still looking to get into the buyer's market to upgrade on the blueline. We also know that the Calgary Flames are interested in tweaking their roster and have a number of pending UFAs that they're looking to unload.
On Tuesday's edition of Insider Trading on TSN, trusted insider Pierre LeBrun revealed that teams have informed him that the Flames are listening on a number of players outside of just the obvious ones in Nikita Zadorov and Chris Tanev.
"Craig Conroy politely declined comment when we tried to talk to him after the GMs meeting, he's got a lot going on. The bottom line is this... what teams are telling us is that the Flames are listening on the other pending UFAs as well... The Flames are ready for a roster reset here." - LeBrun on the Flames
While that isn't exactly breaking news, what Darren Dreger followed up with was a bit more of a bombshell. He used Nazem Kadri as an example of someone who may want out of Calgary if they opt to rebuild their roster from the ground up.

"If this renovation, if we can call it that, gets more hefty, then you start to look at some of the players who are also under contract. Nazem Kadri, as an example, signed that long-term deal as a free agent with the Calgary Flames. He wants to stay in Calgary and he wants to win with the Flames, but if the Flames as an organization progress to a rebuild, he's not interested in that and I think that there'd be others in a similar situation." - Dreger on the likelihood that Kadri and others may request trades if the Flames plan to rebuild
Kadri isn't the only one who signed long-term in Calgary over the past couple of years looking to try to win with the Flames. We also saw MacKenzie Weegar and Jonathan Huberdeau ink long-term contracts to remain in Calgary. LeBrun also mentioned that Noah Hanifin was close to signing a long-term extension, but chose to wait it out to see how the team started. It's a good thing he did, because this disastrous start has ultimately changed his mind and the two sides appear to be headed towards a split as well.
