Nylander is the headliner among all Swedish players returning home to play on home soil and also happens to lead the Maple Leafs in scoring at the moment with 22 points in 15 games, riding an unbelievable 15-game point streak. Nylander is playing some of the best hockey of his career this season and the chance to continue his streak in front of his family and friends back home in Stockholm, Sweden is certainly special.
Nylander told the media on Tuesday that he has purchased between 90-100 tickets per game for his family and friends to come watch him play in Stockholm, including his grandmother, who has never seen him play an NHL game live. He seemed thrilled about the opportunity to have her in attendance, but inadvertently dunked on her when he was asked how old she was.
Oh, Willy...
Hopefully his grandmother doesn't read the sports section of her local newspaper and hopefully she missed this interview - though I'm sure someone in his family will make her aware of the comment. She'll more than likely just laugh it off, if she's anything like Willy. It's a pretty funny reaction to the question, after all, and I'm sure she's not under any misconceptions about her age. I'd imagine that his mom and dad might tell him to mind his manners though.
