Connor McDavid appeared very bothered by a small group of fans who invaded his space and put their hands on him outside of a beer store in Edmonton this week.

After defeating the Dallas Stars in Game 6 on Sunday, McDavid and the Oilers celebrated accordingly. A video surfaced showing McDavid and his wife loading beverages of the alcoholic type into the trunk of his car while being cheered by a handful of Oilers fans. The video, taken by one of the fans, shows them thanking McDavid and congratulating him and the Oilers on making it to the Cup Final.
McDavid however, seemed less than impressed with the intrusiveness of the fans, who were essentially sitting in his trunk as he attempted to load the cases of drinks into it. The fan recording the video then proceeded to walk around the car and ask McDavid for a hug as he was getting into the driver seat. McDavid awkwardly obliged to it before getting into his car and driving away.
The excitement in Edmonton is electrifying, and as we have seen across all sports, sometimes that excitement can get the best of fans. In no way were these fans endangering McDavid or his wife, and I understand that as an athlete and public figure this type of thing should be expected to happen when out in public, but at the same time, fans also have an obligation to know where the line is and give athletes and public figures their space.
