Must see: The Sens are so bad one of their players tried to trade himself
The Ottawa Senators were supposed to be finished their rebuild and competing for a playoff spot this season. Unfortunately, things haven't exactly gone that way after 25 games as they sit last in the Atlantic division with an 11-14-0 record. Last night, they were in Dallas to take on the Dallas Stars, and while they held a 3-2 lead at the end of the first period, they ended up losing 5-4.
After 20 minutes, as the teams were making their way to their locker rooms after the horn went to signal the end of the period, Senators defenseman Jakob Chychrun did not join his teammates, who were departing through the corner gate. Instead, Chychrun chose to exit among a line of Dallas Stars players down the tunnel next to their bench. Click here to see the clip for yourself.
Not a single Stars player said anything to him and security didn't stop him. In fact, surprisingly, no one seemed to mind. Chychrun would eventually realize what he had done, but gave everyone a good laugh with his mistake. Even Elliotte Friedman had some fun with it, joking that Chychrun had been traded to Dallas and would make his debut for the stars in the third period.
I have to say, I've seen some weird occurrences in the NHL, but this is the first time I've ever seen a player walk down the opposing team's tunnel in the middle of the line without a single word or odd interaction.
