Los Angeles Kings defenseman Alex Edler may be headed towards a suspension following a dirty knee-on-knee hit on Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid during Wednesday's game.

The play occurred during the 2nd period with McDavid attempting to gain the zone. Edler attempted to stand him up at the line and stuck his leg out, catching McDavid right on the knee, sending him crashing down to the ice. Oilers defender Darnell Nurse took exception to the hit and went right after Edler.

If this feels like Deja Vu, it's because Edler did something very similar to Zach Hyman a couple years back while Edler was still in Vancouver and Hyman was still in Toronto.

McDavid was alright, thankfully, but Hyman was less than pleased with the hit, as he explained to Gene Principe during the intermission. Hyman called it "an extremely dangerous play" and you could tell by his demeanor that he and the rest of the guys in the room were upset with the play. Rightfully so.
