Although he's only played in four games in a Maple Leafs uniform, O'Reilly's 73.8% faceoff win percentage is the best of his career and a statistic that head coach Sheldon Keefe labelled "out of this world". In the game against the Minnesota Wild on Friday night, O'Reilly was 15-2 in regulation in the faceoff dot.
Keefe has had O'Reilly slotted in the middle of the "Ontario Line" alongside captain John Tavares and Mitch Marner. The trio has displayed excellent chemistry in the early going, but now O'Reilly will look to build some chemistry with a new winger, as William Nylander slides down to play with O'Reilly and Tavares, with Marner shifting up to return to the top line with Auston Matthews and Michael Bunting.
It will certainly be tough for O'Reilly to top his performance with JT and Marner. In just his third game as a Maple Leaf, he potted a hat-trick and currently has five points through four games. The second line has combined for 16 points over that four-game span and has made the Leafs' top six much stronger as a whole.
