Yesterday, the Leafs held their end of season media availability. Like their starts throughout the playoffs, they showed up fashionably late with players scheduled to speak to the media at 9am, and not starting until 11. Kyle Dubas and Sheldon Keefe also met with the media later in the day and wrapped up just before TSN's OverDrive went on the air.

When OverDrive went on air, the focus was on the season ending media availability and what the players had to say. Co-host Bryan Hayes was not thrilled with how the players responded to questions and shredded them for showing zero personality and emotion.

"They need to start showing some personality because they all sound the exact same. It's like the military down there. They're all being coached to not give the media anything. I do think it's important for the fans...I didn't sense a soul from anyone down there. Someone come out there and say something off script. I think the team has told them, 'be careful, don't say anything.' Someone's gotta go in there and break the mold and show some personality." - Hayes on the Leafs

As a fan, I couldn't agree more with Hayes on this one. It's been 7 years of the same "we have a lot of belief in this room" and "we have to learn from it and grow" bulls*** from everyone in the locker room. If you didn't watch any of the availability yesterday, you would have been able to recite their answers almost verbatim from years past. Sure, there are times where the Leafs do show personality, but they certainly do not say enough and often bite their tongues when it comes to answering certain questions. As Hayes said, it starts with a guy like Brendan Shanahan and funnels down into the locker room to "Mr. Serious" captain John Tavares who is essentially a robot when speaking with the media.
