For what feels like an eternity, the Leafs have used Hall & Oates' "You Make My Dreams Come True" as the team's defacto goal song and, for at least the last two summers now, Leafs Nation has been longing for a change.
It's not that it's a bad song. It's catchy and fun and easily recognizable, but a change of pace is never a bad thing - especially for a team like the Leafs, who possesses such a fun and exciting young core.
On Friday, Sportsnet's Tim and Friends' host, Tim Micallef, asked Leafs superstar center Auston Matthews what his thoughts on the Leafs' current goal song are. Unsurprisingly, Matthews is also ready for a change. Here's what he had to say on that front.
Hopefully GM Kyle Dubas gets the message here and tasks whoever is in charge of the goal song with finding a fun and fresh replacement for the Hall & Oates classic. However, if they're going to go with another classic rock song, I'm throwing my vote at The Tragically Hip's "Three Pistols" right here and now.
