Some breaking news to announce coming out of Washington as the Capitals have announced on Friday morning that they have come to terms on a 5-year extension with Dylan Strome worth a total of $25M ($5M AAV).
Strome was signed by the Caps this summer to a 1-year, $3.5M deal after being left without a qualifying offer by the Chicago Blackhawks after a breakout year playing alongside the likes of Patrick Kane last season.
So far this season, Strome has produced 11 goals and 25 assists for a total of 36 points in 52 games. He's well on his way to surpassing his career high 48 points from last season, though he may not surpass his 22 goals from last year.
Strome was originally drafted by the Arizona Coyotes with the 3rd overall pick back in 2015. He spent 3 years with the Coyotes organization before being dealt to the Blackhawks in the Nick Schmaltz trade. He has amassed 206 points through the first 325 games of his young NHL career.
