Bruins President Cam Neely met with the media on Monday morning to touch on the signing, the optics of it all and the subsequent release of Miller on Sunday, just a day after signing the 20-year-old blueliner to an entry-level contract.
Neely claims that he was unaware of the fact that the family of the boy that Miller had victimized in school was never contacted during the team's pursuit of information on Miller's attempts at rehabilitation. He called the error a concerning one and committed to doing an internal investigation on why the boy's family was never contacted to determine if disciplinary action is necessary for anyone within the organization.
In terms of how the players felt about the ordeal, there were a few pretty damning comments from Brad Marchand, Nick Foligno and captain Patrice Bergeron. Neely revealed that he doesn't blame his players for reacting the way they did to the signing.
