Cale Makar reportedly cooperates in the investigation into sexual assault case involving Canada's 2018 World Junior team
Earlier this week, a report came out that several members from Canada's 2017-18 World Junior Championship team were involved in a lawsuit and facing serious allegations that 8 CHL players and players on the 2018 gold medal squad had non-consensual sex with and performed unwanted sex acts on an intoxicated female. Ultimately, the case was settled and the players responsible remained unnamed.
It's pretty disturbing, as the 2018 WJC team had several current NHL stars and a few superstars on it, so, if true, there are multiple guilty parties currently living out their dreams while the alleged victim had her whole world turned upside down.
The most notable names from that team are: Carter Hart, Cale Makar, Drake Batherson and Jordan Kyrou. Obviously, I'm not suggesting that ANY of these players was in any way involved, but it's just an example of the caliber of players who were on that team.
Reporter Ken Campbell revealed on Saturday that he has reached out to Cale Makar's agent to determine what his client's knowledge of or involvement in the alleged incident was, and according to Brian Bartlett, Makar was not involved and helped out those investigating the incident.
"Just spoke with Cale Makar's agent Brian Bartlett who confirmed that Makar was not involved in the alleged sexual assault involving the 2018 Canadian World Junior team and that he cooperated in the investigation."
