Stone, 32, was drafted in the 2009 NHL Entry draft 69th overall by the then Phoenix Coyotes. Stone would go on to play 324 games for the Coyotes amassing 24 goals and 72 assists for 96 points, before being traded to the Flames in February 2017 for a third round pick in the 2017 draft and a conditional fifth round pick in the 2018 draft.
During his 6 seasons with the Flames, Stone has played 180 games, contributing 11 goals and 27 assists for 38 points. While the veteran defender may not have flashy numbers on the scoresheet, he plays a heavy game with his six-foot-three , 210 pound frame. He has something to offer for the Flames in a depth position, so it's up to him to make the most out of his PTO and try to secure another deal with the Flames. Conversely, if he does have a good camp, but the Flames don't have a spot for him, he'll be free to sign with another team once released.
