If the Department of Player Safety really wants to set a precedent and eliminate hits from behind, it could spell trouble for the Edmonton Oilers and Connor McDavid, after the Oilers captain drilled LA Kings defenseman Mikey Anderson into the boards from behind in the first period.

We saw Leafs winger Kyle Clifford earn himself a 5-minute major and a game misconduct as well as a 1-game suspension for a hit that wasn't even half as dangerous as this one by McDavid, so I'm sure McDavid will receive word that he'll be offered a hearing at some point on Thursday.

It would not surprise me in the least if McDavid gets 2 games for the dangerous play. The only thing that might save him here is that Anderson was quick to hop back up to his feet, whereas Ross Colton remained on the ice after being hit by Clifford on Monday.
